Rocky Mountain Juniper - semi trained

Price:  $995.00

————Price open to negotiation————-

Collected by Andy Smith in 2003 and styled by Colin Lewis, this beauty has been established in its current training pot for five years and has a good strong root system that is reflected in the vigorous foliage growth.

Great trunk movement and very old and weathered natural deadwood.  This is one of the rare occasions when I will not peel the bark on a juniper - here it is so craggy and rich in texture that it would be a shame to destroy such a rare and powerful feature.

The main branches have been wired three times and are now more or less set, smaller branches need one more wiring.  The long process of building vigor and density is showing results: the outer shoots and foliage are now responding to regular pinching like a well behaved juniper should do.

Replant into a well chosen pot in spring, continue wiring outer shoots and constant pinching for two years, and this will be a spectacular bonsai. If it’ll do this for me in southern Maine, it’ll do more where the summers are a tad longer!

21 inches tall from the rim of the pot.
