It has been estimated that in all the international world of bonsai,
John Y. Naka was easily considered among the top five contemporary greatest masters, the grand masters of the art. I have an original sketch by the late John Y. Naka, Matted and framed. His Initials and his stamp are on the work and maked number 1. In pencil is enscribed “John’s drawing of my tree as it is after first visit”. I had bid on this art work and won it, at New England Bonsai Gardens, at an auction back in 2004. I am not sure where it originated from and from whom. The value of this art work is in the eye of the beholder and I am not sure what the market is on his work. (The Auction tag/No., is still attached on the back hanger.) 11 x 14 frame. Added note: I found the Techniques II book that came with the drawing. Signed and chop stick strikes on the fore edge of pages. It will be included with the artwork.
