to design and develop it, why not take advantage of this exciting
'package
deal'?
Together with every tree, I can
offer you the option of a series of heavily discounted private,
one-to-one workshops, during which you will participate in the
design and creation of your tree, as well as learn additional
skills and information. You can take all or any number of the
workshops listed.
Workshop 1:
Analysis of
the potential and initial design
We will work together to determine and establish the tree's basic
design. This will include all work on deadwood, branch selection
and primary wiring. You will leave with a drawing of the tree's
future design and detailed instructions on how to proceed until
the next workshop. This workshop will last between four and sixteen
hours, depending on the requirements of the tree.
Workshop 2:
Stage two development
You will work under my guidance to select or eliminate new growth,
to refine deadwood, to wire secondary branching and so on. This
is where the final stages of establishing the structure takes
place and the work schedule for the next couple of seasons is
set. Four to six hours.
Workshop 3:
Pot selection and repotting
In advance of the workshop we will discuss and select an appropriate
pot, either from Bonsai West stock or special order. At the optimum
time we will work together to reduce the roots and to position
the tree in its new container. The tree can remain at Bonsai
West until re-established, if required. Three to four hours.
Workshop 4: (mini-series)
Refinement and
the future
Many bonsai are spoilt by poor refinement and maintenance. This
series of short workshops will take you through the stages of
refinement wiring and pruning, general maintenance, presentation,
foliage reduction, health, and cyclical renovation. Four ninety-minute
workshops over several months.

For this package deal, my normal private one-to-one workshop
fee of $80 per hour is discounted to:
Workshop 1: $60 per hour
Workshops 2-4: $40 per hour
